Tombs of the Blind Dead Review
Chapter 6: The Legend
We find ourselves back in Lisbon at Betty's mannequin shop. Betty seems to be trying to busy her mind with her work, but is unable to concentrate due to Virginia's terrible death. Her assistant, Nina (actress Veronica Llimera) tells her she needs a vacation to which she replies, "Maybe, but not until I know what happened to Virginia." Nina tells her to "leave it alone" at which point Betty suspects she knows something and confronts her with the question, "You know about Berzano don't you?"
Nina protests that she "doesn't want to talk about it." No sooner are the words out of her mouth than the doorbell rings. Betty tells her it must be Roger, and orders her to let him in. Roger enters and remarks on the odd (flashing red) lighting of the store front. Nina tells him the light comes from a sky light and a neon sign on the roof. He remarks that it must be annoying, but Nina says it doesn't bother them.
When Roger arrives, Betty announces, "My assistant used to live in a village 40 miles from Berzano." Both Roger and Betty question her, but she is unwilling to talk. Finally, Betty grabs her arm and says, "We really need your help."
Nina tells the pair of a legend she's known since she was a child. It was a story told to frighten the children "when we were bad." She says, "Berzano is haunted by ancient Knight Templars. They worshipped the devil and were excommunicated."
Roger: "But what does that have to do with the murder?"
Nina: "The dead templars come out at night and hunt."
Roger, touching Nina's arm: "Hunt?"
Nina, pulling away: "Hunt humans and drink their blood."
