Tombs of the Blind Dead Review
Chapter 5: Identify The Body
Again our scene changes to the inside of a morgue where we see Roger, Betty, a policeman, a doctor, and a strange morgue attendant who seems to be an out of place attempt at comic relief. This character, who looks suspiciously like Saddam Hussein, grins and leers at Roger and Betty before showing them...the wrong body.
"No," says the doctor. "The girl from today." Saddam corrects his mistake and pulls the cover back on Virginia. Betty faints but Roger catches her before she hits the floor.
We now see the doctor offering Betty a glass of water. Roger asks him who could commit such a crime. The doctor says he hasn't done an autopsy, but the case is strange. Virginia looks as though wild animals attacked her. She looks to have been tortured, but very little damage was done and there was no sign of rape. Roger asks if this is the work of a sadist. The doctor replies, "Sadists, judging by the bite marks of at least a dozen persons." The doctor believes her death was part of some death ritual to which Roger replies, "Impossible. Black masses are a thing of the past."
