Museum Of The Red River
In 2008 I visited the Museum of the Red River in Idabel, Oklahoma, to have a look at "Acro" (Acrocanthosaurus atokensis - a T-Rex-like dinosaur) as well as the usual exhibits and, oddly enough, an Egyptian mummy dated to the "Roman period" in Egypt.
"The Museum's collections feature archaeological artifacts of the the Caddo and Choctaw, Precolumbian objects from Middle and South America, modern and contemporary native arts and crafts from throughout the Americas, and a cast skeleton of the dinosaur, Acrocanthosaurus atokensis, discovered nearby in McCurtain County."
Flash photography is of course forbidden at the museum, so the following pictures were taken via non-flash camera equipment.
The museum has a web page you can visit at http://www.museumoftheredriver.org/ which gives extensive exhibit information, directions, and contact info.

A female mummy. The display (not shown) identifies her as about 35 years old and the sarcophagus is said to be of the mass produced sort. According to the display it contains standard funerary text painted on it, and if I'm not mistaken, it even contains a typo. Go figure. So much for masterful ancient Egyptian works.
