Make Some Money Online? Yes, It Can Be Done

It is possible to make a little extra money on the Internet. It won't be enough to buy a new car but it's easy money and it is absolutely possible, requiring little effort. Here are a few pointers I've learned along the way:

  • You can make some cash online with little effort by participating in online surveys. Keep in mind that you're probably wasting your time with companies that do nothing more than enter your name into a sweepstakes. This is not to say that such companies are scams or that no one wins the contests, but the rule is: if it's not a sure thing, stay away from it.

  • If it requires you to spend your own money, stay away from it. This is a sure thing for others, not necessarily number one (which is you).

  • It is possible to make extra cash if you want to go through the trouble of building your own website, but it doesn't happen overnight. You can even make cash on a personal (hobby) website if you have good content. This site earns a small monthly amount. Keep in mind that to gain any real traffic will probably require you use a paid host, not a freebie.

  • Most free hosts require that you accept their own advertisers and they forbid it to you. One notable exception is 110MB.com. If you don't want to or can't afford to pay for your own host, give them a try - after you read and agree to their TOS, of course. Remember that building and maintaining a website is a very involved and time consuming business.

  • It is possible to make cash from eBay...but it takes work and it's by no means "easy money." And if you don't sell, you lose. I have made money on eBay, but it was hard work. If you want to try your hand at it, why not check your closet for brand named clothing that you don't want anymore? This is how I made my cash.

  • Affiliate programs: if you go the website route, don't sign up for too many affiliate programs. Use Adsense and one other affiliate program at the most. Otherwise you'll end up trying to run too many ads, and they all seem to compete with one another.
