Fort Towson Post Cemetery Photos
These pictures were taken on June 25, 2009 and show the entirety of the remains of the Fort Towson post cemetery. No doubt many of the graves are now unmarked.


This 1994 memorial honors three American Indian soldiers and other patriots.

Memorial
To three Native American patriots who died in the vicinity of Fort Towson. Col. George Colbert was buried in this cemetery with military honors. The other two were buried also with military honors but their graves are unknown.

(The rest of the inscription records the names of the groups involved with placing the monument).

While it's clear that there were many graves, only a few stones are now upright.

Only about three markers are readable.

At least two of the markers cover the graves of members of the Gooding family.

Rubble composes the majority of the scenery.
