2006 Return Visit to an Unnamed Village Site

The Mound In The Late 1990's

I took photos at this location in the 90's (date unknown). The photos from the previous visit appear here. I have been unable to identify this location by name; it may be part of the Kiomatia Mounds District.

Trail Notes:

1. Location: Private
2. Weather: 54 degrees, sunny with light chilly wind.
3. Arrived at 5:10 PM

Notes:
It was already growing dark and I was very cold. Lighting was obviously poor and I forgot my jacket, so I was freezing. Area is almost unrecognizable. I could see the Red River in the distance. There are several potential mound sites here that I located on aerial photos. I was unable to secure permission from landowners to walk to any of these potential sites.

A Low Burial Mound Lies About 100 Yards North of the Main Mound

It's very hard to tell that anything is there, even when you're on site. However, there is a long low mound here (just beyond the fence line) that is thought to contain burials. To my knowledge it has not been disturbed.
